It’s almost time to Go Summer Thoroughbred Racing Tasmania!
The 2017 Luxbet Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival kicks off on Wednesday 11 January 2017 with the Simons Design Devonport Cup, and concludes on Wednesday 22th February 2017 with the $200k Luxbet Launceston Cup Day.
2017 is the first time the Simons Design Devonport Cup meeting conducted on the Luxbet All Weather track will form part of the carnival.
The carnival encompasses eight headline race meetings featuring 92 races with total prizemoney of $3.5 million.
On offer to connections and trainers will be the Luxbet $100,000 Double Cups Bonus. This gives connections the chance to pocket a total of $300,000 by winning both cups.
The 2017 carnival will see the likes of Up Cups, Admiral, Geegee’s Goldengirl, Jerilderie Letter and Hellova Street take on what is sure to be a strong mainland contingent in the 27 feature races offering prizemoney of between $25,000 and $200,000 totalling $2.1 million, including eight Listed races and four Group 3 races.
The Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling sale also returns as an exciting component of the carnival on Thursday 16 February 2017. The Magic Millions Tasmania sale has established itself as one of the country’s most popular, with graduates of the calibre of dual Group 1 winner Palentino, The Cleaner, Kenjorwood and Royal.
Carnival race day: Simons Design Centre Devonport Cup
Devonport, Tasmania’s third largest city, sits on the banks of the Mersey River and is the gateway to the regions natural wonders such as Cradle Mountain, The Great Western Tiers, Arthur River and the mighty Tarkine Rainforest. Luxbet Racing Centre Launceston is just three kilometres from the heart of Launceston City in Jellico Street, Mowbray and is easily accessed by car, bus or taxi.
On Luxbet Launceston Cup Day there is free Metro bus service: The Club provides a free shuttle bus from City Stop E (St. John St) via Cornwall Square departing from Stop E St John Street every fifteen minutes from 10.30am until 1.30pm and departing from 4.00pm until 9pm.
There is also free parking available in the centre of the race track.
