Speed Force

Carnival Contender - Speed Force

Speed ForceSPEED FORCE is definitely one of Tasmania’s brightest prospects and his Longford-based trainer Bill Ryan is confident the gelding will measure up to this season’s Hobart and Launceston cups.

Speed Force opened his summer campaign with an eye-catching third in a benchmark 76 event over 1220 metres in Launceston on 7 November, finishing less than two lengths from the winner Gee Gee Lanett that went on to finish a game second in the Newmarket Handicap.

Ryan said he is likely to send Speed Force along the usual path to the cups by tackling the weight-for-age races in December before heading to the Brighton Cup in Hobart in January.

Speed Force was aimed at last season’s major cups but had his campaign cut short when he suffered a minor injury in the 2018 Hobart Cup.
