The North Eastern Pacing Club (NEPC) at Scottsdale on Tasmania's North-East Coast hosts only one meeting a year and usually on the first or second Friday in January.
It is well patronised with thousands flocking to the venue that also boasts a country hoe-down after the last race with live music and a plethora of cuisines for those who like to party!
The tight track can cater for only five horses on the front row but the action gives racegoers a feeling that they could almost touch the horses as they skim the outside fence when making their moves in the backstretch and home straight.
The feature race that locals vie for is the $10,000 Bridport Hotel North Eastern Pacing Cup.

The NEPC race meeting is renown for its family picnic atmosphere with free children’s activities offered during the evening. Fashions On The Field is a big drawcard for many people with categories for younger children, young adults (men and women) and the more mature women.
Access to the Scottsdale Recreation Grounds can be either from George Street (Horses & Floats) or Rose Street (off Coplestone Street) for general admission. If travelling from Launceston you can drive via Lilydale or the scenic trip over the Sideling. Either way, the trip will take approximately 1 hour.
