The North Eastern Pacing Club (NEPC) at Scottsdale on Tasmania’s North-East Coast hosts only one meeting a year and usually on the first or second Friday in January.
It is well patronised with thousands flocking to the venue which also boasts a country hoe-down after the last race with live music and a plethora of cuisines for those who like to party!
The tight track can cater for only five horses on the front row but the action gives racegoers a feeling that they could almost touch the horses as they skim the outside fence when making their moves in the backstretch and home straight.
The feature race that locals vie for is the Bridport Hotel North Eastern Pacing Cup.
